News about Dr Hannon
Dr Hannon will be retiring from the partnership at the end of March 2019 after almost 27 years service with the practice. He will be missed by staff and patients alike.
If your usual GP is Dr Hannon, you will be added to the list of one of our other GP's.
Dr Anderson will take over the role of Senior Partner for Alchester Medical Group.
Bicester GP Provision
The three GP practices in Bicester are working closely with Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) to ensure that primary health services will be able to meet the demands of all their current patients and the increased population expected in Bicester. We anticipate that this is likely to involve the need for new premises for some or all of the practices. Once we have more information on possible options, we will be engaging further with patients to ensure that any decisions made will take in account their views while also offering best value for money.

Information re: flu jab for patients aged 65+
We will shortly be running out of the flu vaccination that is recommended for those patients aged 65yrs and over, and we will be unable to obtain any more this flu season.
This means if you haven't had your flu jab just yet, you will have a couple of options:
1: You could have the flu vaccine that is recommended for patients aged under 65yrs ('QIV' vaccine). This vaccine is not the recommended for patients aged 65yrs and over, and may not provide as effective protection as the vaccine recommended to you ('Fluad' vaccine). To have this vaccine, just make an appointment with one of our nurses.
or, option 2: You could go to a pharmacy and have the recommended vaccine there.
Chain SMS - a new patient message service we are using
We have started to use a new service called Chain SMS. It allows us to send text messages to our patients.
The text message will come from 'AlchesterMG' and it will always have the practice name at the bottom of the text.
You will not be able to reply to these text messages.
Have a look at this which explains a little more about it:
If you do not want this to happen please let the surgery know - you can email us: firstname.lastname@example.org; you can phone us: 01869 248585; or you can write to us, requesting to opt-out of receiving text messages.

EVENING AND WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS via Extended hours at PML's Neighbourhood Access Hubs
Our patients now have even better access to a doctor at the weekends and in the evenings. Neighbourhood Access Hubs developed by Principal Medical Limited (PML) on behalf of Oxfordshire practices in 2015, have extended their opening hours so that yet more patients can benefit from national GP Access funding (GPAF). This is great news for the 300,000+ patients registered with the 36 PML GP Federation practices in Oxfordshire. READ MORE ABOUT THIS HERE
Restrictions on prescribing Over the Counter medicines
The latest guidance from the OCCG - see the Prescriptions page here for more information (information is at the bottom of the page).
Ambrosden Medication Collection Days
Ambrsoden is no longer open on a Tuesday and Thursday for medication collection. You will be able to collect your medication on a Monday (11am-1pm) and Friday (11am-12pm), or you can speak to a Dispenser / Receptionist who can help arrange an alternative collection.
Ambrosden Surgery - new opening times from April 2018
We have had a change to our opening days at Ambrosden Surgery from 16th April 2018.
We are now open on the following days:
Mondays 11.00 - 13.00
Wednesdays CLOSED - NO MEDICATION COLLECTION
Fridays 10.00 - 12.00
This means that we will no longer be open for medication collections on a Wednesday. See this page here for more information on our medication delivery service that we can offer you instead.
Telephone number to use for all patients
PLEASE NOTE THE NUMBER YOU NEED TO RING TO SPEAK TO RECEPTION IS 01869 248585 AND NOT 01869 245665. Please ring this number and you should be able to get through to us.
The reason for this phone number change is that we have moved our Reception team to be based at Victoria House Surgery where we can better deal with our phone calls. If you were to ring Langford Medical Practice, those phone calls then get routed through to Victoria House Surgery, which result in even more delays. Accordingly, we would as that you ring this number if you would like to contact the surgery: 01869 248585.
Our Reception team will be able to book appointments for Langford Medical Practice, pass messages onto any member of staff based at Langford, etc. This does not mean you cannot visit Langford in person to make an appointment or speak to a Receptionist - we will still have Receptionists based at Langford to assist you.
Please be assured that we are aware of the problems our patients have had for the last few weeks in trying to ring us, and we are trying to address them as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience.
Patient Access for patients of Victoria House Surgery
If you haven't renewed your Patient Access account since the 1st of October 2016, please contact the surgery and renew it BEFORE requesting medication, as your account will have become inactive due to the recent practice merger and we won't see any requests you put through. You will need to renew your account before you are able to use this service.
