Monday - Friday: The majority of appointments are routine please call between 11.30 and 15.30 whenever possible to book a routine appointment. Urgent appointments can be made by calling at the reception desk or telephoning 248585 between 08.00 and 18.00 during the week. If you want to see a particular doctor, it is preferable to make an appointment in advance. If you have an urgent problem you will be seen the same day, but not necessarily by the doctor of your choice.

Walk-in Patients

Please note the surgery does not provide a walk-in service.

If you have an urgent medical need please telephone us and you will be added to the triage list.

If you walk-in and ask to be added to the triage list you may well be asked to go home and wait for a call from the practice.

We have limited waiting room space which for patients who have a booked appointment only.

10 Minute Appointments

GP appointments are for 10 minutes.

Please help us keep to time by remembering your appointment is for 10 minutes only.

If you have multiple problems you can request a double appointment.

Online Appointments

You can now book appointments on line via the link at the top of this page; if you currently request your repeat prescriptions on line you can use the same log in details. For new patients, before using this service you must obtain your personal registration details from reception; click here to find out how to sign up for this service.

If you think that your problem will take longer than the routine 10 minutes with a doctor (15 minutes with a nurse) to discuss, or you have several unrelated problems, please let the receptionist know so that a longer appointment may be made. Try to see the same doctor to follow-up on a particular problem. If the doctor asks you to come back, please make the follow up appointment before leaving the practice to ensure you are seen in the time scale advised, it is not appropriate to use emergency appointments for follow ups.

*Please note, we currently only have a limited number of appointments available online for patients wanting to book an appointment with a GP. Please bear with us while we arrange for more appointments to be available.*

Choice of Doctor

You will be registered with the practice. As a general rule, we would encourage you to get to know and see one doctor which would be your registered doctor (except under exceptional circumstances), especially if you have an ongoing medical condition or need a follow-up of some tests or a referral which might have been instigated by a particular doctor. Seeing several different doctors about the same problem can potentially lead to a delay in diagnosis and instigation of the appropriate treatment.

Telephone Consultations

If you feel you need telephone advice from the doctor or nurse, the most convenient time to telephone is between 10.30 and 11.30. The receptionists have been asked not to interrupt a doctor if they are with a patient unless your call is urgent; you may therefore be asked to call back or leave a telephone number where your doctor may contact you.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Extended hours at PML's Neighbourhood Access Hubs

Our patients now have even better access to a doctor at the weekends and in the evenings. Neighbourhood Access Hubs developed by Principal Medical Limited (PML) on behalf of Oxfordshire practices in 2015, have extended their opening hours so that yet more patients can benefit from national GP Access funding (GPAF). This is great news for the 300,000+ patients registered with the 36 PML GP Federation practices in Oxfordshire.

The aims of the service remain the same; patients requesting a pre-bookable GP appointment at their own practice, may be offered an appointment at a nearby location, with a local GP or nurse who has access to their medical records.

This provides more appointments for patients during the day, the evenings and at weekends, while relieving GP practices of some of the pressure of providing treatment for minor illnesses.

What does this mean for you?

  • No change in the booking process for appointments.
  • You may be offered an appointment during normal or extended hours at a Hub location.

In North East Oxfordshire, hub sessions are held at Bicester Health Centre, Key Medical Practice and Gosford Hill Medical Centre or other local GP practices at various times between the hours of 9:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings.

Appointments can be booked through your usual GP Practice reception.

Pre-bookable appointments may be available at other North East Oxfordshire GP practices (Bicester, Kidlington, Islip) Monday – Friday, between 6.30pm and 8.00pm.

Your usual GP practice can provide up-to-date information on appointment times and locations of Hubs.

Making more time available at the Surgery means that we will be able to put more focus into preventive care, offering longer appointments and concentrated treatment for patients with long-term conditions and complex needs.
