ARE YOU MAKING UNNEEDED TRIPS TO DROP OFF REPEAT PRESCRIPTION FORMS AT OUR SURGERY?

Is your chemist or pharmacy now saying you should drop off your regular repeat paper prescription forms at the surgery?

We’d like to make it clear that you DON’T always have to do this and to provide you with some important information to help.

Please avoid coming to Victoria House Surgery just to drop off repeat paper prescription forms whenever you can.

All regular repeat prescriptions can be best ordered quickly and simply using an app on your mobile phone - we recommend either  the NHS app or the Patient Access app - both are easily available and free to use.  All the details about the apps can be found online.

If you have a suitable phone and still feel uncomfortable trying this method of ordering then please consider asking a family member or friend to set it up and help you. We’d really like you to avoid making totally unnecessary trips to the surgery to drop off paper repeat prescriptions.

When you order your repeat medicines via the app our surgery will see it, arrange for a doctor’s authorisation and then electronically send your order through to your usual pharmacy or chemist - where you can go to pick up the items you’ve ordered, for example Jardines or Boots.

We’ve recently become aware that many of the chemists and pharmacies in Bicester are changing the way they work and are no longer accepting patients’ paper repeat prescription forms that are dropped into their counters - and they will not pass them on to us in the way that they have previously done. Boots is the latest pharmacy to have advised that it’s changing procedures soon and most patients should no longer drop in their paper repeat requests to the counter staff anymore but to make their own alternative arrangements instead.

We are now seeing a big increase in patients coming to drop off their repeat paper prescription forms at Victoria House Surgery on Buckingham Road, even though that’s not usually necessary, and it already threatens to damage the quality of the service that our staff can provide.

So, we kindly ask, please don’t make unnecessary surgery visits with repeat prescription forms, please DO choose to order via an app instead.

Patients requiring repeat prescriptions should also note:

  • Please give at least three working days in notice when you need a repeat prescription
  • Alchester Medical Group patients may also email repeat prescription requests to alchester.dispensary@nhs.net
  • We regret that we are unable to accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions. This is for security and safety reasons.
