How to book an appointment for a COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination through the NHS App
We've put together a guide on how to book your COVID-19 vaccination at Alchester Medical Group through the NHS App.
You can also book through the NHS National Booking Service through this way as well (just skip ahead to Step three below, and click on the Book an appointment button). Book via the National Booking Service if you would prefer.
There are ten steps below, please note each step is linked to booking via the NHS app, so essentially every time you go to a new page in the app, that will be a 'Step' in the below guide.
Please note that currently we can only offer appointments online at our Langford Surgery. We hope to be able to offer appointments online for our Victoria House Surgery soon. If you would prefer to have an appointment at our Victoria House Surgery, you would need to contact us on our usual number to make an appointment.
Guide for Booking your COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations via the NHS App
Step ONE
Log into your NHS App. You'll see on the Home Page a list of pages you can access - select the VACCINATIONS page.
Step TWO
Vaccinations page
You'll have some options here
- Check and book an appointment
- Book, cancel or change an COVID-19 vaccination appointment
- Book or cancel a free NHS flu vaccination at a pharmacy
- Your vaccinations
- COVID-19 vaccinations
Select the SECOND option, Book, cancel or change a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
Step THREE
Book, change or cancel a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
Scroll down the page until you reach a button that says Start now (this button is green). Select this option.
Step FOUR
Are you able to get a COVID-19 vaccine?
This page asks if you are eligible for the vaccine. If you are over 75, or immunocompromised, you are eligible, so select Yes, I'm eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. Then press the Continue button.
Step FIVE
You can now choose an appointment.
This page will offer you the ability to book for another person at the same time. You can do this if you wish, we will be just booking for one person in this example.
Select No, continue without adding anyone else, and then press the Continue button.
Step SIX
Do you want to book a free NHS flu vaccine in the same appointment?
We are offering a flu and COVID-19 vaccination service so even if you don't currently want a flu vaccination, please select Yes, book a COVID-19 and flu vaccine in the same appointment. That way you'll be offered an appointment at our surgery (if you select No, then you will not be offered one at our surgery). It is important to note that even if you do not want a flu vaccination, you select the Yes option at this time.
Press the Continue button.
Step SEVEN
Find a site near where you'd like the appointment
Enter Bicester in the search box, and press Continue.
Step EIGHT
Make sure you select the first option here, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX26
Step NINE
Are there any access needs for anyone attending the appointment?
Please select if there are any access requirements. If there are none, scroll to the bottom and select No access needs. Press Continue.
Step TEN
From this page, it will offer you your nearest sites available to book your appointment. Alchester Medical Group should be at the top. Make sure to click on Choose Alchester Medical Group.
Choose the appointment date you require, and press Continue and select time range.
Then choose the time range for your appointment, and press Continue and choose appointment time.
Choose your appointment time. Press Continue.
Your details and appointment information will be shown. Review your details and the appointment date and time to ensure you are happy. When ready, press Continue.
You should get confirmation that your appointment is now booked.
If you wish to cancel your appointment, you can do through the app.
Alternatively, if you prefer to contact us to book an appointment, you can do. Contact us on the usual number and follow the selection options.
